Heath Ledger (1979 – 2008)

“Katie, Katie, look, it’ll be fine. I just need to get some sleep.”

The talented Oscar-winning actor spoke these last words to his sister the day before he was found dead – she warned him against taking sleeping tablets on top of the pills he was already taking for pneumonia. Heath Ledger died from an accidental overdose of prescription medication, at the age of 28.

John F Kennedy (1917 – 1963)

“No, they sure can’t”

The former President’s final words after Nellie Connally asked him “Mr. President, they can’t make you believe now that there are not some in Dallas who love and appreciate you, can they?” JFK was assassinated with a gunshot to the head, aged 46.

Errol Flynn (1909 – 1959)

“I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”

Actor during the Golden Age of Hollywood, best known for his romantic swashbuckler roles, said this shortly before his death. Errol Flynn died from a heart attack in Vancouver General Hospital, he was aged 50.

Thomas Becket (1119 – 1170)

“I am no traitor and I am ready to die. For the name of Jesus and the protection of the church, I am ready to embrace death.”

Archbishop of Canterbury, Christian saint and martyr, at the age of 51 Thomas Becket was killed in Canterbury cathedral by four knights. The King is rumored to have said “Will noone rid me of this turbulent priest?” and the knights interpreted this as a royal command to kill the Archbishop.

Aileen Wuornos (1956 – 2002)

“Yes, I would just like to say I’m sailing with the rock, and I’ll be back, like Independence Day, with Jesus. June 6, like the movie. Big mother ship and all, I’ll be back, I’ll be back.”

The last words of convicted serial killer Aileen Wuornos, she was executed at Florida State Prison by lethal injection, aged 46.
